Therapeutic Massage
is a broad term for soft tissue manipulations which aim to aid in relaxation, release muscle tension, stimulate circulation,
reduce stress, and other benefits. It also presents a peaceful time to connect to your body. A variety of
techniques are available which can be applied individually or in combination to meet your needs. These include:
Swedish Massage
methods are primarily used for relaxation. Cream or oil may be used with light strokes. Usually, these are full body massages.
Deep Tissue Massage
involves the application of greater pressure and stretching with the intent of relieving chronic muscular pain while flushing toxins from your body. It is a large part of injury rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis. It may involve application of trigger point and myofascial release techniques.
- Trigger Point
aims to release painful "knots". Direct pressure causes immediate relaxation of these muscle contractions. Trigger points may cause pain in seemingly unrelated, remote areas.
-
Myofascial Release
refers to stretching or compression of fascia -- a connective tissue which surrounds every structure in the body -- to increase range of motion and elimate pain.
Sports Massage
Regular, repetitive activity leads to a consistent build-up of tension in the muscles and causes stress on joints,
ligaments and tendons. Sports massage is designed to reduce injuries and alleviate inflammation. For young or old athletes before,
during or after training events.
Hot Stone
15-30 smooth basalt stones are heated to 125 degrees and are combined with Swedish or Deep Tissue Massage.
Achieve a melted state of relaxation.
Prenatal
The manipulations reduce pregnancy discomfort. May speed recovery of the new mothers emotions and physiology
and restore the energy mother needs to care for her infant.
